Acutek is a DJ / Producer hailing from rural Moray, Scotland who has been playing records for over a decade.
Starting on the harder styles of dance music at 15 playing a set of Numark belt drive TT1610 he has moved over to house and techno in the last 5 years with some Drum & Bass or Breaks as well if the situation fits. From his first set playing at a nightclub in 2012 he was won a string of competitions winning sets at the The Tunnels Aberdeen for TLF and Aberdeen Beach Ball Festival. He won overall for Your Event Scotland's National DJ Battle in 2014 after getting through to the finals in Aberdeen. In 2016 he got into the Northern Final in Leeds for House the House competition for Last Night a DJ Saved my Life Charity, Acutek was the only competitor from Scotland in the UK wide competition.
With cuts of house, techno, disco his sets are unpredictable and full of energy. Acutek has warmed up for some of the biggest names in the scene such as Gary Beck, Pleasurekraft, Bontan, ANNA , Stefano Noferini, Tommy Four Seven, Hans Boufmhyre and Ben Nicky. He has also been on the same bill as Marco Bailey, Mario Piu, Dave Clarke, Kenny Larkin, Octave One, Funk D' Void Signum and Rebecca Vasmant. With confidence to play in any situation to warming up a dance floor to playing peak time on vinyl, cdj or live hardware jams, there is a lot to offer from this young DJ.
He has been playing events all over Scotland including club nights Ritual, SLVR, Hectors House in Edinburgh and Good Vibrations Glasgow over the years. Festival appearances have been a regular occurrence with Acutek playing Mothers Ruins at Belladrum, Shenanigans, Groove Cairngorm and Mugstock last year.
This year Acutek returns to Mugstock to debut a live hardware set with Ableton as the hub playing his own productions with synths layered over the top. After attending Soma Skool at Shoogle Studios in Glasgow this has helped Acutek move into the production world and learn his craft.
January 2017 seen his debut Parrot EP released on Space City Recordings gaining support from Dimitri Pike who is part of the Detroit Techno Militia. Recently his track 'Icy Path' has been released as part of a various artists compilation on Gibbon Records. With more productions in the pipeline keep your ears to the ground for more music being released later in the year.
A new project has started called FLICK in his hometown of Forres where local DJ's and guests will be invited to play keeping the electronic music scene alive and inspiring the younger generations. Pushing the boundaries with adventurous bookings bringing underground DJ's to town.
